»Almond shaped eyes for circles and dots • Circles for eyes and almond shaped dots • Dots and almonds for circles in eyes«

Mexico City, March 17, 2022 - April 16, 2022

This group exhibition curated by Julia Rometti (Nice, France 1975, based in Mexico City) and Victor Costales (Minsk, Belarus, 1974, Ecuatorian nationality and based in Mexico City) is articulated in two chapters/parts and an interlude. The participating artists were invited to develop new works or to reflect on existing ones, following a dynamic of relationships of affection, transformation, correspondence, and dialogue between the proposed works. Some of these relationships are more explicit and immediate, others more subtle, others almost undetectable, however, they are all present on different scales and to different extents. Like the moss that gradually covers the city sidewalks during the rainy season, only to disappear after a few months. Like a star that reveals a part of the surface of its body, hiding the rest in the shadows. The three titles of each chapter, trace variables on the surface of the certainties that have been imposed on us. They exchange the coordinates of their forms/words to redefine their meaning.

The participant artists are: Armando Andrade Tudela, Mirosław Bałka, Louidgi Beltrame, Minia Biabiany, Victor Costales, June Crespo, Ximena Garrido-Lecca, Fernanda Gomes, Runo Lagomarsino, David Lamelas, Eva Löfdahl, Anna Maria Maiolino, Helen Mirra, Francesco Pedraglio, Tania Pérez Cordova, Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa, Julia Rometti, Michael Schmidt, Michelle Stuart, Alejandro Villa Durán.

As part of the public program of the project Victor Costales presents a performative reading between each chapter of the exhibition.
