Karl Larsson »Leaving the 20th Century«
Stockholm, February 25, 2016 - April 02, 2016
The title of this show is a small excerpt taken from Now, the SI!* a short, unattributed text published in 1964 in which the author(s) argue for a Situationist approach to launch society into the next century, suggesting that Situationist acts such as Détournement, Dérive, Psychogeography etc would in themselves be practices of the future.
Perhaps a Situationistic approach, such as a combination of critical investigation of present days culture and abrupt disruptions of the fabric of everyday society, could be useful in relation to the exhibition. Critical investigation in this case meaning not only theoretical methodology, but also a wordless confrontation of body and space. Disruption meaning not only formal juxtapositions and allegorical interventions, but also direct action, force and even destruction. A body in a room called gallery, book, community.

At Galerie Nordenhake Karl Larsson will present new work produced over the last two years. His parallel practice as a poet is visible not only through excerpts of written text, but also in a spatial grammar, where material, form and content create narratives which doesn’t necessarily speak in complete, prosaic sentences.
- “Maintenant, l’I.S.” originally appeared in Internationale Situationniste #9 (Paris, August 1964).
