Ernesto Burgos’ works bring the enthusiasm of Abstract Expressionism into the third dimension with gravity-defying forms that harness the tension between painting and sculpture. His wall-based sculptures serve as a conduit for his ongoing exploration of transformative dynamics, stemming from earlier experiments with regular, everyday objects that delved into the boundless potential of materials.

Ernesto Burgos was born in 1979 in Santa Clara, CA, and raised in Chile. He lives and works in New York, NY. In 2004, he earned a BFA from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, CA, followed by an MFA from New York University in 2008. Burgos’ work has been exhibited across the U.S. and internationally. Noteworthy recent exhibition venues include Parrasch Heijnen, Los Angeles, CA (2023); The Sunday Painter, London, UK (2023); Gana Art, Seoul, SK (2023); AK Contemporary, Cologne, DE (2022); Galerie Julian Cadet, Paris, FR (2022); Ross+Kramer Gallery, East Hampton, NY (2021); Kate Werble Gallery, New York, NY (2017); The Goma, Madrid, SP (2019); Galeria Revolver, Lima, PE (2017); Nino Mier, Los Angeles, CA (2016); Halsey McKay, East Hampton, NY (2013); David Castillo, Miami FL (2007).
